AUTOEQUIPS 360° Around View Monitor Deployed on Rosenbauer Fire Trucks in Germany
2025-11-21

AUTOEQUIPS, a global supplier of commercial vehicle safety systems, today announced that its AI 360° Around View Monitor has been successfully installed on Rosenbauer fire trucks operating in Germany. The deployment marks an important milestone for AUTOEQUIPS in the European emergency vehicle market and underscores the growing role of AI-based surround view technology in high-risk, real-time operations.

Rosenbauer, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of firefighting vehicles and equipment, has long emphasized all-round visibility as a key factor in safe and efficient fire-ground operations. Its latest vehicle platforms highlight the importance of 360° camera and bird’s-eye view systems to support drivers during deployment, maneuvering and positioning around incident scenes.

360° Around View Monitor

By integrating AUTOEQUIPS AI 360° Around View Monitor, Rosenbauer’s fire trucks gain an AI-enhanced, panoramic vision system designed to eliminate blind spots around large emergency vehicles. The solution combines four ultra-wide-angle HD cameras with advanced image stitching algorithms to deliver a seamless 360° bird’s-eye view on an in-cab monitor, significantly improving situational awareness in dense urban streets, narrow access roads and crowded incident zones.

“Emergency vehicles operate in the most demanding environments—at speed, in traffic and often in low-visibility conditions,” said the Product Marketing Director at AUTOEQUIPS. “Partnering with Rosenbauer demonstrates how AI-powered 360° vision can help drivers and crews maintain full awareness around the truck, reduce operational risk and protect vulnerable road users during every deployment.”

AI-powered vision for demanding fire service operations

At the heart of the system is the AI control unit, which processes four 1080P AHD camera inputs from the front, rear, left and right of the truck to generate a single, unified surround view. A proprietary stitching algorithm merges these feeds into a stable, high-definition panoramic image, minimizing distortion and ensuring that critical details such as pedestrians, vehicles, obstacles and equipment remain clearly visible.

Key capabilities of the Rosenbauer-equipped configuration include:

  • AI Pedestrian Detection – Built-in AI algorithms perform real-time detection of pedestrians around the vehicle, especially in near-field zones, supporting safer maneuvering in busy streets and at incident scenes.
  • 3D/2D View Switching – Drivers can toggle between 3D panoramic and 2D split or single-view modes, depending on the maneuver (approach, positioning next to buildings, reversing, or navigating tight yards).
  • AI-based Distance Measurement – The system computes and overlays real-time distance information between the fire truck and nearby obstacles or pedestrians, helping operators judge clearance more precisely when positioning ladders, outriggers or supply lines.
  • Instant Audio Alerts – Voice alerts are triggered when pedestrians or objects enter critical zones, ensuring that the driver is actively notified even when visual attention is focused on the road ahead or the incident site.
  • Fast Calibration & Integration – One-touch or guided calibration allows Rosenbauer and its customers to configure the system quickly during vehicle build or retrofit, minimizing installation time and workshop disruption.

These features complement Rosenbauer’s existing safety and visibility solutions, creating a more complete awareness package for drivers and commanders during response and on-scene operations.

Built for harsh conditions and 24/7 readiness

Fire and rescue vehicles face extreme operating conditions—from high vibration and shock to temperature swings and severe weather. To match these demands, the AI platform is designed as a ruggedized commercial-grade solution:

  • The control box supports a wide 9–36 V operating range and is rated for operating temperatures from –20 °C to 80 °C, making it suitable for year-round European climates.
  • The camera offers 1080P resolution, a horizontal field of view up to 210°, IP68 water- and dustproofing, and vibration resistance compliant with MIL-STD-810F, ensuring stable operation on rough roads and at incident scenes.
  • The system’s low-light performance allows drivers to maintain a clear view around the truck at night or in smoke, rain and fog, conditions that frequently reduce the effectiveness of conventional mirrors.

For emergency service operators, this translates into a surround view system that is not only intelligent but also dependable across the entire duty cycle—from leaving the station to returning after a call.

Supporting Europe’s safety and visibility objectives

The deployment of the AUTOEQUIPS AI on Rosenbauer fire trucks aligns with broader European initiatives to improve vehicle visibility and protect vulnerable road users around heavy vehicles. While many regulations are written primarily for commercial trucks and buses, the operational challenges for fire trucks are similar or even greater: large vehicle dimensions, limited maneuvering space and the need for rapid response.

By equipping emergency vehicles with AI-enhanced 360° vision, Rosenbauer and AUTOEQUIPS are helping cities and municipalities address:

  • Better protection for pedestrians and cyclists in urban environments;
  • Reduced risk of low-speed collisions during positioning, reversing and tight turns;
  • Lower stress levels for drivers navigating congested streets under time pressure;
  • Fewer vehicle and infrastructure damage incidents around stations and depots.

Foundation for future collaboration

AUTOEQUIPS expects the Rosenbauer deployment to serve as a reference case for other European emergency and municipal fleets exploring 360° camera and AI-based safety systems. The AI platform is already used across multiple commercial vehicle segments—including trucks, buses, construction machinery and agricultural equipment—providing a scalable technology base for further applications.

“We see strong interest from fleet operators who want more than just a parking camera—they want a true ‘situational awareness system’ that works in real time,” the AUTOEQUIPS Product Marketing Director added. “Fire and rescue vehicles are among the most challenging platforms, so success with Rosenbauer sends a clear signal about the maturity and robustness of our AI 360° solution.”
